Northparkes Open Day 2013

Last weekend was one of the biggest in the Northparkes Mining events calendar, the  Northparkes Open Day 2013.  Machinery Automation & Robotics along with friends and family attended this vibrant, family orientated affair.  The theme for the 2013 open day was new technology and how this is being developed and used at Northparkes Mines making for a safer, more efficient and productive workplace. Visitors enjoyed walking, train and bus tours, informative displays, equipment simulators and a state of the art Block Caving Knowledge Centre demonstrating Northparkes mining operations.   There were also plenty of activities for the kids including a jumping castle and games galore making it a fantastic event for the whole family.

One of the many attractions on the day was Machinery Automation & Robotics’ MARbot.  In keeping with the family orientated atmosphere MARbot was adapted to cater for kids and the young at heart alike.  Guests were invited to shoot some hoops and play MARbot ball.  A live demonstration of the Robotic Idler Replacement System was also on display, showing exactly how this technology can be applied in the mining industry.

An open day like this highlights the importance of Workplace Health and Safety.  The happiness and success of ‘the family’ depends on the knowledge and peace of mind that all members are safe and well.  Northparkes Open Day offered the community the opportunity to spend quality time at the mine and review how Northparkes safely operates machinery ensuring the safety of all employees.  Machinery Automation & Robotics provided visitors and staff with lifesavers lollies in return for their thoughts on why mining safety is important to their family.  The competition closes March 29th 2013, simply like us on Facebook and the best submission will be rewarded with their weight in lollies.

MAR would like to thank  Northparkes for a fun filled day and the chance to showcase our innovative technology.   The considerable amount of planning, work and effort was evident from the thousands of visitors this great event attracted.
